FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • What do you use to make your soap?
    We use high quality botanical oils in our soaps because we believe that high quality ingredients yield high quality soap. Our oils include, but are not limited to: extra virgin olive oil, coconut oil, sustainable palm oil, castor oil, and rice bran oil. Essential oils are added for fresh, uplifting scent blends and mineral pigments can be used for a splash of color. Each soap has its own unique blend of oils and additives, so make sure to check the ingredient listing if you have sensitivities to certain materials.
  • Does your soap lather?
    Yes! Our soaps lather perfectly by using your hands; and the lather will increase when using a washcloth or other bathing accessory. Our soaps will lather in both hard and soft water.
  • How is soap made?
    Soap is made by combining fatty acids with an alkaline solution. In the case of cold kettle, or cold processed soaps, the measured oils are combined with a solution of sodium hydroxide (lye). This creates a chemical reaction called saponification that results in soap, glycerin, and water. The soaps are then cured for a minimum of 3 weeks for the water to evaporate, resulting in a longer lasting, mild bar. No true soap can be made without the use of sodium hydroxide. If the recipe is properly balanced, there will be no lye present in the final bar.
  • How should I care for my handmade soap?
    Handmade soap retains all the natural glycerin created from the saponification process. Glycerin is a natural humectant that draws in moisture, and is the main reason why handmade soap is so gentle. It is also why it is best to keep your soap in a well-draining soap dish and out of the direct spray from your shower. Handmade soaps will also last longer if left to dry out between uses.
  • Shipping
    Studio11Soap ships within the continental United States. Packages 13oz and under ship First Class, all other packages are sent USPS Priority Mail. Once approved, most in-stock orders will be shipped within 1-3 business days. If one or more items are out of stock, you will be notified via e-mail and given the option to either have the in-stock items shipped, or held until the entire order can be fulfilled.
  • Returns
    Due to sanitary reasons, Studio11Soap will only accept returns on items that were damaged during shipping. If your order was damaged during shipping, keep all packaging and notify us within 10 days to arrange for a replacement. Studio11Soap is dedicated to providing a superior product and customer service.
